ROLE OF ENGINEERS IN SOCIETY

Introduction
As an engineer, I view drug consumption in society as a significant problem facing our society. My work as an engineer relies on healthy performing society. Therefore, I would like to come up with a body drug detoxifying technology that is affordable to help potentially productive population rotting in drugs. Coming up with such machine will assist the field of medicine to fight drug effects in our societies to make people regain functionality.

Drug and Our Society
From my point of view, lack of proper control and the inability of the society to control its use are the main reason as to why the problem continues to escalate. The problem is worse when I see productive young ages rot in society. Peer influence, availability and desire to test all makes our society vulnerable to start using the drugs (Ksir, Ray & Hart, 2008).On the social sphere, I see drugs destroying relationships among people. Most drugs impair normal brain functioning of human cognitive functions. People end up behaving abnormally to the extent of destroying the social unit. Violence is common in drug use accompanied by other criminogenic activities like rape. Drug use in many cases isolates the user from the general society. This separation is adverse in the ordinary functioning of the community. The isolation usually leads to users failing to perform their responsibilities as society members. Excessive drug consumption together with other intoxicating substances is responsible for several socio-economic as well as health problems affecting the community. They damage societal developing brains (Hart Ksir, 2013). Children, as well as youth who engage in drug abuse, develop diminished learning potential and poor information retention. Drug use usually promotes adverse health conditions amongst users. This also affects the productivity, performance in activities and responsibilities in different social settings. Drug use responsible for violence as well as criminality in our societies more so in the learning institutions like violent strikes disrupts society education system. Family finances depletion leading to poverty as well as inability in meeting familiesobligations like school fees payment, food, amenities and investment in the income earning enterprises are all effects of drugs to our society. Family resources get spent on buying drugs while skipping family responsibility. I have observed a reduction in development as no investment goes on in the society. Alcohol and drug abuse in particulate diminish societiesperception of risks thereby directing abusers into risky behavior as well as exposing themselves to conflicts with the law as well as disease contraction. Drug use has continuously disrupted agricultural production leading to food security decline in our society. I have experienced accidents at home, workplaces, roads, schools and many places leading to injury and at times death. Family’s foundation of our society gets destroyed due to drug use. Chronic use of drugs destroys marriages leading to divorce in families. Those making profits at the expense of the community need to take up ethical responsibilities and stop the disastrous businesses in the society.
Conclusion
As an engineer, I would like to take up the responsibility to help society fight this problem. I will take up the initiative to conduct societal sensitization to educate people on the adverse effects of the drugs. As an engineer’s, I know a healthy society that is not affected by drugs will help me in carrying out my duties. Therefore, it will be my moral responsibility to assist the community in becoming drug-free society needs to join hands and seek a remedy to this problem. I will work with the authorities in the community to make sure that demand for the drugs get reduced as the supplies get destroyed. At this point, a will have contributed to the securing of the society that is rotting
