Introduction
Art is a diverse range of the activities of man to create
visual, auditory, and the performance artifacts to express the imaginative and
technical skills. In artwork, creativity is a crucial aspect that helps to
relay particular messages to the target audience. Every piece of art falls
under a movement that represents the style of art with a specific common goal
applied by a group of artists within a particular period. Art movements are
important during the period that corresponds to the modern art. The essay helps
to apply the techniques of art analysis to a piece of art. It also has a
description of the themes and purpose of the movement in art from the era of
modernism and its relevance in today’s works of creative expression.
The selected movement of art for discussion is Fauvism.
It is a 21st-century movement in modern art that uses a style of painting with
clear expressions and the non-naturalistic use of color. The art movement was
widespread in Paris from 1905 and was an important influence on the later
artists. I decided to investigate the movement due to its emphasis on personal
expression and use of intense color as a method of describing light and space
and as a method of communicating the artist’s emotional state. The style of art
made a significant contribution to modern art in the attempt of separating
color from the descriptive and representational role and giving it
independence. A color can portray a mood and structure within art without being
a true representation of the natural world. Another feature is the balance of
composition by use of simplified forms and saturated colors to draw attention
and each element in the art playing a particular role. The art movement applied
individual expression of expressions, emotional response to nature, and
intuition of the artist.
Modern art uses certain stylistic features that were
applicable in the earlier centuries but with a different mode of presentation.
The art product selected was created on 24th July 2015 by Green Wave and falls
under modern art. The product is a creative representation of nature in which
the artist uses particular color codes to relay the intended message. Of
interest is the alignment of the artwork to Fauvism as an art movement. The
artist uses personal imagination and intense color to bring out the perceived
message to the viewer.
The selection suits the movement selected from the modern
era due to the selective use of imagination and color in describing the art.
Fauvism art movement separates color from description to make it distinct. As
evident in the piece of art selected, the artist does not concentrate on using
the natural color of the items depicted but uses creativity to portray them as
desired. For instance, the use of orange, red, and yellow colors amidst a
background of trees separates from the natural expectation thereby making the
artwork appealing to the eye. The use of saturated colors for each element
draws attention and generates particular moods to the viewer. The present day
creative work would use the features of Modernist artistic movement due to its
style of blending colors with imaginative ideas and distinguishing from the
norm. The movement of art applies to present day creation that uses creativity
that goes beyond what the natural eye can see.
Conclusion
The era of modernism used diverse styles of artistic
representation that are evident in the present-day artwork. Most of the today’s
work of creative expression applies the styles used in previous art movements
but with a different message. Fauvism is a style of painting that uses
non-naturalistic color and applies to many of today’s art expressions as
evident in the Green Wave art. The analysis of an art product helps to
understand the intended message by the artist.
