Business leaders have today
gained popularity being the steers of the business towards goals. Though
leaders get credited for the positive outcomes of the business, they are also
blamed for its failures. Among the problems that hinder leaders’ from gaining
the desired outcomes of the business include: problem with the strategic
vision, communications issues, and poor general management practices.
Other errors committed by most
leaders and which hinder their swiftness in delivering success the inability to
detect changes in markets, incapability to assess and access the necessary
resources needed to accomplish visions accomplishment and miss-assessing the
needs of the customers or market niche among others. Among the poor general
management practices displayed by leaders include poor connections with the
subordinates, the incapability to lead upwards and sideways and poor
administrative skills. These leaders are so absorbed by the vision that they
lose touch with some elementary functions.

Incivility is a common feature
that affects in many if not all organizations Although incivility may be there
in an organization; many are times when uncivil behaviors are propelled
unnoticed, and many leaders fail to know the ways to curtail them. Incivility
by definition is the disregard or ignorance of others and may get taken as a
violation or the norm of respect. Research indicates that incivility is common
in workplaces and may sometimes take the form of sexual harassment. When propelled in workplaces, uncivil actions
lead to awful results like a discouragement to the team and sometimes to exits.
Incivility is age or gender insensitive though as per research, women are more
vulnerable than men. More so, although anyone may behave in incivility towards
the others, people of higher status (powerful) are likely to treat those of
lower status. The opposite may also happen but rarely.
Among the ways to inhibit
incivility is hammering it whenever it happens. Those who propel it should
suffer dire consequences and act as exemplary cases to the others.
